What do all of these symbols mean? The symbols are pretty self-explanatory, and created just to give you a quick overall feel for the place. As always, these are our editor's opinions only, and not to be read as gospel. For those seeking a little more clarification, here you go... 5 mugs, indicates a great all-around establishment and is our highest recommendation. To receive 5 mugs, a place needs good food, good drinks, a comfortable atmosphere and that little something "extra". 4 mugs, indicates a very good all-around establishment. These places generally provide good food, good drinks and a comfortable atmosphere but lack and that little something "extra"; OR they have that "extra" but are missing something else like a good variety of beer or varied menu. 3 mugs, indicates a good all-around establishment for a good night of all-around drinking and eating. Not necessarily anything special, but not likely to disappoint either. 2 mugs, leaves a lot to be desired, but is perfectly fine for stopping in and checking our for yourself. Perhaps our editors are just plain wrong or just hit them on an off day. 2-mug spots are worth exploring on your own. If you find one that impresses you drop us a line. We're always up for more "research". 1 mug. One singular mug indicates just that - a place for one beer and little more. It's takes a true lack of service, caring and/or pride to get a one or our list, so proceed with caution, and don't say we didn't warn you. Wine glasses are basically the same as mugs above, but illustrate a place that is at least attempting to appeal to a classier clientele. These places likely have good beers as well, but probably aren't the place to roll into after a long day at the job site. Bon appetite! Ahhh, the symbol for a dive bar. This one probably requires more explanation that most. A DIVE BAR IS NOT A BAD THING! In fact, we love them! Keep them coming, please!! To us the definition of a dive bar is a place that anyone can roll into, in practically any attire and be treated just like the guy next to them. Have a beer, have a shot, have some pickled meat from a jar. Just don't order a martini and don't pay with anything bigger than a twenty! Indicates a smoking establishment. Everybody sells wings, these places do it right! The mussel indicates that a little better than average attempt is made to provide good seafood. Sadly, LanCo is lacking in an abundance of good seafood spots. These places will give you a good cut of beef done right. spots.
